getting married in a tropical paradise

There are only a handful of days a year where we get to see Far North Queensland at its best and this was one of them! There really couldn’t be a better day suited for a Turtle Bay Elopement!

The skies were clear and the ocean was glassy, with at least 20 meters of visibility from the air. We left Port Douglas Helipad nice and early with our fingers crossed for a private ceremony on Vlasoff Cay in the middle of the Great Barrier Reef. The stunning weather however had attracted droves of locals out the reef.  We instead had a nice scenic flyover of the Cay we headed south towards Cairns. A quick trip past Green island and we were greeted with the gorgeous, secluded slice of paradise that is Turtle Bay. No, not Turtle Bay in Hawaii where Forgetting Sarah Marshall was filmed… This one is ours. To be precise, on the 6th of November 2020 it was Becky and Hayden’s.

Travelling in style over the great barrier reef with Nautilus Aviation

The detour proved to be a blessing in disguise as the sun started to intensify and the sand became unbearable even for Becky and Hayden with their seasoned Dubai beach feet… I know that sounds odd… But I swear it makes sense!

This Turtle Bay elopement was stunning! Not only was it a private beach, it had shade to have a wedding ceremony and picnic.

Becky and Hayden cruised through their ceremony with Stephanie like clockwork. I think its quite apparent to anyone who knows them that these two are a perfect match.

A bottle of bubbles and the most amazing mini pineapple wedding cake on a picnic rug was just what the morning called for. Of course there was enough time for Hayden to get some shots with his drone before we heading back to Port Douglas.

Private beaches and tropical rainforests

This Turtle Bay elopement wasn’t complete without jumping in the car and heading out of town to a rainforest creek. A quick 10 minute drive and the couple were transported to another slice of paradise here in Port Douglas. No elopement in Port is quite complete without a cheeky photoshoot down at Spring Creek.

It’s not everyday that you get to hang out with two people on a helicopter elopement that you have so much in common with. Travelling, sailing, a great sense of humour, what else could you ask for!?

These two were an absolute pleasure to work with and I’m sure they’ll have many, many happy years to come!

Congratulations Becky & Hayden!
